Boston Athlete To Compete For Team USA! Wait, back up. Breakdancing? In the Olympics? Yup, it’s happening. You may not have even know this was a thing but it most certainly is. Let’s take a look at who will be representing the United States in “Breaking.”

Meet the U.S. Olympic Breakdancing team

There are 10 athletes that make up the United States Breaking team. Two men and two women will compete for gold for the first time ever in Olympic competition. Vicki Chang, Javier Chavez, Sunny Choi, Logan Edra, Carmarry Hall, Morris Isby, Jeffrey Louis, Valencio Martinez, Victor Montalvo and Alexander Diaz. Diaz is from Boston and went to Madison Park High School.

Alexander Diaz owns a dance studio in Cambridge

Alex is the President of the Floor Lords Crew. The Floor Lords, according to their website, is an “organization that seeks to use the positive aspect of hip hop dance to reach and empower youth, worldwide.” He is a married father of two boys and he’s from Roxbury. He even created his own move which he considers dangerous titled the cannonball head spin. According to Diaz if this move is done incorrectly it could knock you out. He’s performed alongside artists like Missy Elliott, LL Cool J and 50 Cent. We can’t wait to see how Alex fares against the best breakdancers in the world at the Paris Olympics. Breaking takes place on August 9 and August 10.

So what are the best breakdancing songs in the world?  Jeffrey “Jeffro” Louis and Victor Montalvo put together a list of the top breakdancing songs. Here is which songs made the cut. We’re going to count down the top 6.
