Aerosmith on Comm. Ave.: Looking Back at a Legendary Gig
It seems like it was just yesterday that it was Aerosmith on Comm Ave., playing in front of their old apartment building.
It wasn’t just yesterday, though. It was over a decade ago: November 5, 2012. The Bad Boys of Boston returned to their roots at 1325 Commonwealth Avenue and turned in a forty-five minute set in front of a crowd filled with lifelong fans and celebrities, like Tom Brady. You remember him, right? He used to be the quarterback for the New England Patriots. Now he’s just another middle-aged divorcee living out is days in southern Florida. What a difference a decade makes.
If you recall, the band used the stunt to promote their new-at-the-time album Music From Another Dimension! The Comm. Ave. location was the one-time crash pad of the band, where a handful of their earliest, most popular songs were written. In fact, when the band was in town earlier this summer, frontman Steven Tyler returned to the Boston landmark for a short visit and some photo ops. And in true form, he did it up proper, posing for photos and chatting it up with building residents and locals who just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
Aerosmith on Comm Ave.: Looking Back at a Legendary Gig
Of course, this anniversary comes just a day before an even bigger one: November 6, 1970. That’s when Aerosmith played their first-ever concert at Nipmuc Regional High School in Mendon, MA. I don’t have a recap or footage of that one to share with you, sadly. But there’s plenty to share on the Aerosmith on Comm. Ave. gig from a decade ago. Click here for the recap from Boston.com, then check out the full set below. The live set starts right around the 39-minute mark. And hey, see if you can’t spot ol’ Tom Brady!
