Wolfgang Van Halen Called a Twitter Troll a “Grape”
Wolfgang Van Halen is a great musician, a great guy, and a great follow on Twitter. Because he takes no nonsense from trolls.
In mid-March, Blabbermouth had this report on Mammoth WVH signing with BMG for a second album. Great news, right? The first Mammoth WVH album had some fine cuts on it and Wolfie is really coming into his own as a songwriter. Of course, minutes after Blabbermouth tweeted the news, some troll decided to chime in.
The comment? “He’s still mad at fans for loving Van Halen so don’t ever tweet to him about VH ever.” Again, Wolfie does not suffer fools on Twitter. And he’s a genuinely good guy, so he had a genuinely good retort. You can check out the exchange here, where Wolfie says: “Yeah I hate that. People who love my dad’s work and band I was in for over a decade are just the worst. How dare you love things. Loving things is stupid. Better yet, don’t tweet me about anything at all is this over the top sarcasm obvious enough yet?”
This, of course, lead to more discourse. Which led to another example of Wolfie setting the record straight. “Not playing VH to uphold my integrity as my own artist to build my own career, and hating VH are two completely unrelated things that have no correlation in any capacity. It’s like some folks are incapable of basic thought. (Not you. Just the dummies I’m talking about).” See? Wolfie gets it.
The trolls, however, do not.
Wolfgang Van Halen Called a Twitter Troll a “Grape”
Get a load of this guy’s reply: “If a person wants to make a name for themselves they wouldn’t take advantage of their famous father’s last name & band name. His father & uncle didn’t have that. Everyone in the band didn’t have that. Matter of fact, majority of current & former bands & singers didn’t have that.”
Here’s a guy who clearly isn’t up on his rock history. At all. So how does Wolfie reply? “Van Halen is literally my fucking name you grape.”
Check out the new Mammoth WVH here. Wolfgang has earned it.
