ONCE Somerville Gets a $400,000 Boost
Here’s a story you might have missed: a beloved local venue just got closer to finding a new home, courtesy of some federal grant money.
Vanyaland reported last month that ONCE Somerville is the recipient of a cool $400,000, courtesy of the Shuddered Venue Operators Grant program. You may recall ONCE was forced to leave its Highland Ave. digs in Somerville last fall. They took things online and did the virtual venue thing for a bit, then–thanks to a small $25,00 grant from the National Independent Venue Association–launched a series of outdoor events at Boynton Yards. That series runs through September.
So score one for the local scene. It will be nice to see ONCE emerge once again as a live music venue soon.
