It’s hard to find a number the Boston Celtics haven’t retired yet. Funny enough, number 12 is one of those numbers. So who’s the best to wear it?
If you ask me (and really, you don’t have to ask me: it’s my list, so I make the call), it’s PG Jerry Sichting, the man who fought Ralph Sampson of the Houston Rockets in Game 5 of the 1986 NBA Playoffs.
Sure, Sichting only spent two seasons in Boston. But he paired well with fellow Indiana native Larry Bird: they were the only two Celtics to play in all 82 games of the ’85-’86 season, and Sichting was instrumental off the bench in the Sweet 16 Championship run. Damn, I might even have to grab one of these.
