David Byrne Concert Film Directed by Spike Lee Coming to HBO
David Byrne of Talking Heads has teamed up with acclaimed director Spike Lee for a special based on Byrne’s hit Broadway musical.
American Utopia, which features solo work from the Byrne album of the same name as well as music from Talking Heads, has been a favorite of fans and critics alike since debuting on Broadway last year. Since playhouses and theatres are shuttered due to COVID-19, Byrne reached out to Spike Lee and asked Lee to produce a concert film based on the musical. The film is due to debut later this year.
