12 Word Review: ‘Joker’
Not a comic book flick: a cautionary tale. Heavy, uncomfortable, and essential.
Was that vague enough for you? Hey, what do you expect from a 12 Word Review? Seriously, though, Joker deserves a lot more than just 12 words. It’s a hard film to watch, but it’s necessary viewing. I shared some more thoughts below. Just be warned: when you do see it, give yourself some time to discuss and decompress. It’s a gutpunch of a film.
'Joker' isn't a comic book movie. 'Joker' is what happens when the system fails the mentally ill. And with our current gov't stripping away services and protections for the mentally ill, it's essential viewing: a violent, raw, uncomfortable mirror. Phoenix is magnificent. See it.
