This Massachusetts Diner Has Been Named One Of The Best In America

There’s something incredibly comforting about a diner. And it’s not just because they serve comfort food, primarily. It’s the coziness, the charm, the atmosphere. Stepping into a classic  diner is like stepping back to a simpler time. It’s like a living piece of our country’s history. And according to a recent critics’ survey, THIS Massachusetts diner has been name one of the best in American.

 LoveFood put together this list of “retro diners with bottomless charm,” as reported by Boston 25 News. New England is well represented with 2 Maine diners, one in Vermont, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. They tabulated their “best of” list  from user reviews, awards and accolades received by the establishments.

Based on those criteria, Casey Diner in Natick ranked near the top. Considered to be one of the oldest U.S. diners in operation, Casey’s was first established in 1890, according to their website. When Fred Casey first started out,  it was  just  4 stools and a horse-drawn wagon. The 1922 Worcester Dining car you now visit has been in Natick since 1927.

Ask anyone in the know about Casey’s and they’ll likely mention the dogs. The landmark spot is famous for their steamed hot dogs. And by the way, the diner is still in the Casey family, and has been for 3 generations now. It’s even listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Famous for its steamed hotdogs, Casey’s is a local landmark in Natick, serving generations of families for more than a century. The Diner is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the oldest operating diners in Massachusetts (possibly even the United States! Make sure to ask for your dog ‘all around. That means it comes with relish, onions and mustard.

As described in the article, Casey’s has a long wooden bar, classic diner stools, retro floor tiles, and a bun steamer that pre-dates the diner by around 30 years.”
