Boston Is #1 In The Country For Most Expensive Hotel Rates Again!
Being #1 isn’t always a good thing. And here’s your case in point. According to a recent survey, staying at a hotel in Boston is going to cost you, big time. In fact, it’ll cost you more than any other city in the U.S. And this isn’t our first rodeo to the top of the ranking. Boston is #1 in the country for the most expensive hotel rates, again!
For the third year in a row, Boston has the most expensive hotel rates. We hit the top of the charts when it comes to paying for hotel rooms. The survey was done by cheaphotels.org, and compared 50 destinations across the country. As reported in The Patch, Boston leads the way with an average price of $303 nightly. And that’s for the most affordable double room. Yikes. That is high.
Survey Says…
To be fair, staying in any major city in America is expensive. Additionally, the survey was based on hotel rates in the month of October. As we all know, New England rates get higher during leaf peeping season. But, it’s three years in a row now that Boston takes the cake, and your money. The survey compared “only centrally located hotels” that had a 3 star or higher rating. Also, the survey showed that the average rate from the cities is $167 per night.
Denver has the lowest nightly rate inside the top ten, at just under $200. Interestingly, the only other New England city to make the top 50 list is Portland, Maine. Staying here will only cost you about $102 a night during foliage season. That’s a pretty fair rate in my book.
Here are the top 10 most expensive hotel rates in the county:
- Boston: $303
- New York City: $288
- Austin: $257
- Cleveland: $234
- Albuquerque: $233
- Nashville: $216
- Sacramento: $212
- Detroit: $205
- Raleigh: $205
- Denver: $198
The prices you see here reveal “the average rate for each city’s cheapest available double room (minimum 3-star hotel) located in the city center for the period October 1–31, 2023.” See the full list of comparison of hotel rates in 50 cities in the U.S. HERE.
