I don’t think I have ever seen the headline: will Bruce Springsteen throat surgery, band Covid affect Boston date?
The concert and music world have our collective eyes on The E Street Band’s Thursday night Philly date. After postponing Columbus last week, Connecticut Sunday, and Albany Tuesday, the Northeast is sitting on the edge of our seat. The Pennsylvania dates hang in the balance. THEN, what about Boston, Monday night? Covid, hit the band in February when Little Steven missed a Dallas show. But, the show went on, finding a replacement for Steven Van Zant. But shock ensued when Columbus POSTPONED, with NO SHOW. That could only mean one of two things: TOO many band members are sick, or BRUCE himself came down something that prohibited him to perform. Lips, are tight, and NO one is talking if in fact Bruce has Covid.
Throat Surgery
What I and many didn’t know, is that Bruce had throat surgery.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Springsteen opened up about the throat surgery and depression he went through. According to musictimes.com:
For his throat surgery, he revealed that he had to receive an operation to fix the chronic numbness in his left side that affected him whenever he played the guitar. During the procedure, the doctors cut his throat open and tied his vocal cords temporarily so that they could insert the disc into his neck. To allow himself to recuperate, he stopped singing for three months. Although the surgery was “nerve-racking” for him, it was a successful one at the same time.
Add to that, Bruce admitted his struggles with mental illness, with two mental breakdowns, one at the age of 32, and again in his 60’s. He was very revealing in the interview.
Well, now at 73, what’s most important is that Bruce, gets better, and that the Bruce Springsteen throat surgery, and the affects, are in the rear window of his pink Cadillac.

Parking At TD Garden
I always like to start with PARKING, because THAT’S always the first question we ask when we see a show! While it’s pricy, the North Station Garage for me, is the best bet. If you get there early, there are a few pubs and restaurants within walking distance, weather permitting.
Right off the Garden website:
With the most convenient parking for every game and show, the North Station Garage, located directly underneath TD Garden, offers a flat event rate* of $54 when you enter 2 and 1/2 hours prior to the scheduled event time. Elevators located in the parking garage will bring you directly to the main concourse in North Station.
The garage phone number for general information such as rates and height limits is 617-222-3042.
You can also reserve your parking:
Bag Policy
THIS is important. We MISSED the first TWO songs at Paul McCartney at FENWAY, because my poor wife Heidi, had a purse that was TOO BIG for the metal detectors.

If a bag is necessary, the following restrictions and processes apply:
• Backpacks of any size are considered prohibited items and are not allowed into the arena.
Bags that measure larger than 14”x14”x6” are considered prohibited items and are not allowed into the arena.
Bags that measure between 14”x 14”x6” and 6”x4”x1.5” (including clear bags and ProShop powered by ‘47 bags) are subject to x-ray screening and visual inspection.
• Bags that measure smaller than 6” x 4” x 1.5” may proceed through express screening lanes for visual inspection.
• Diaper bags and bags needed for medical reasons are allowed but will be subject to x-ray screening. We kindly ask that you reach out to TD Garden Customer Service (customerservice@tdgarden.com) 24 hours prior to your event if you want to arrange for additional accommodations before arrival.Reminder: Patrons with prohibited items will not be permitted entry to the arena. TD Garden does not provide on-site storage. Guests are asked to plan accordingly and allow for extra time when arriving to TD Garden.
