The Beach Road Weekend schedule has been released. Take a look if you’re gearing up for the festival or just curious to see who’s playing.
It’s been quite a year for summer music festivals in and around Boston. The 2023 season kicked off back on Memorial Day weekend as it always does with Boston Calling Music Festival. That Friday night Foo Fighters set became an instant classic. I was there for all three days, with my kiddo in tow. I even tasked him with reviewing the festival. You can read that here.
NICE, a fest returned in early July. That’s the Somerville-based festival with live music and local art and artists. The first night headliner was legendary Boston indie rock band Karate. They’re an all-time favorite of mine, so you know I was on hand to take in their set, just as I was on hand last July when they kicked off their reunion tour in Cambridge at the Sinclair. Dream come true, both times.
Just last weekend, ROCK 92.9 was on hand for the second year of In Between Days Festival. The weather was picture-perfect, the lineup for both days was fun and diverse, and the food, drink, vintage shopping, and retro arcade made it one of the best times out we had all summer. Sunny Day Real Estate was my live highlight, and my kid and I got to meet their guitarist.
Beach Road Weekend Schedule and Set Times Announced
The local summer festival season winds down with Beach Road Weekend, August 25-27 on Martha’s Vineyard. The weather looks like it should hold up, so festival-goers should be in for a treat. This is a travel-to and camp-out festival, for the most part, so instead of a “what to know” guide, I’m just sharing the daily lineups. Friday, August 25
Maggie Rose opens the weekend at noon on Friday. The legendary Patti Smith is on the bill as well, with Bon Iver headlining.
Saturday, August 26
The top three slots on Saturday might be the strongest stretch of the whole weekend. Gary Clark Jr. into Dispatch into Mumford & Sons. Solid.
Sunday, August 27
Perhaps the most eclectic day of the 2023 edition. Indie darlings Alvvays, alt-rock legends Dinosaur Jr., Japanese Breakfast, Leon Bridges…damn.
