There’s a certain vibe to Monday, May 1st. A new work and school week begin a kicks off a new month. And of course, the first Friday of this particular month is a fun one. In the spirit of Cinco de Mayo, Foursquare selected the best Boston restaurant for Guacamole. Of the 15 places highlighted, the establishment that claims the top spot actually has two locations. They have been serving up Mexican-inspired cuisine and cocktails since 2010.

Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar

The ambiance and overall dining experience at Lolita Cocina and Tequila bar are as memorable as the guacamole. Each room is dimly lit and decorated with a theme that aims for a gothic feel. “Spanish-inspired décor brings the vision to life with signature design elements including hand-painted wall murals, vintage wrought iron and Mexican Calaveras; all of which embody Lolita’s rebellious spirit,” Lolita explains.

Menu

Though tacos, quesadillas, traditional plates, and appetizers offer an array of mouth-watering options, guacamole has its own prominent place on the menu. There are four different options here. The fresco is the most standard guac with onion, tomato and cilantro. There’s also a bacon-infused style, and a Maine style, which is loaded with lobster and garlic butter. Furthermore, if you can’t decide between the three, you have the choice to go with the “Los Tres.” Yes, that’s a combination of all three signature guacamoles. Both the Back Bay and Fort Point locations offer these varieties. They come with house-made chips, but saving some to mix into your entrée is never a bad idea.

What Else?

Lolita is also known for their signature drinks. With the word tequila in your name, you can imagine the Margarita options are also to highlight. In fact, there are seven different Margaritas on the menu, ranging from a spicy cucumber to a frolita (frozen) with house orange and grapefruit flavors. Sangria or mixed spirits that feature Reposado also pair with their delicious green dip.

Local well-known establishments like Temazcal and Lone Star Taco Bar are also on Foursquare’s list. They, too offer great guacamole options, but it’s Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar that claims the top spot for this Mexican cuisine favorite.

Kicking off the weekend with a Cinco de Mayo (and nice weather forecasted) means the potential for a celebratory start of the month. However, the best Boston restaurant for guacamole is sure to be packed, so Lolita recommends that you make reservations in advance.
