Rat City Arts Festival is the Best 1-day Festival of the Summer
As one-day festivals go, you can’t do much better than Rat City Arts Festival. It’s a model we can get behind, and they pack a lot in.
I mean, think about it. You read the phrase “music festival” and you immediately assume that you’re on the hook for at least a weekend. A long weekend more often than not. Sometimes with gross camping. That’s not the case with Rat City. They’re getting it all done in one day.
Rat City Arts Festival: The Lineup
The event bills itself as “a grassroots celebration of the diverse artists who live, work, and perform in Allston, Brighton, and Boston.” That’s a sentiment I can get behind, what with spaces and opportunities to make art in and around Boston getting smaller and smaller. RIP Great Scott.
Music is at the forefront, with scene star (and Boston Calling 2023 alum) Mint Green headlining a lineup of local artists spanning a variety of genres. There’s some solid talent here. Peep the rest of the lineup on the flyer below, then keep scrolling for more details and links.
Rat City Arts Festival: What to Know
The festival takes place on Saturday, August 3 from 3-10 p.m. It’s 21 plus, but it’s absolutely free of charge. A free festival? In this economy? You bet your ass. So you’d better take full advantage. Besides, that way you’ll have more cash free to buy local art and merch.
It’s all happening at Aeronaut Allston, 276 Western Ave. Great beer, great spot. And the festival caps off a week of related events that you can learn about here. So show up and show your support. Then you can brag to all your pals that you went to a one-day fest this summer!
Speaking of summer, don’t sleep on our Summer of ROCK.
