2024 Boston International Film Fest: A Quick, Helpful Guide
The 2024 Boston International Film Fest is set to get underway. Let’s take a look at this year’s offerings and highlight a few films.
If you’re not familiar, the Boston International Film Festival, as it’s properly known, has been celebrating “International Movies at the Finest Level of Expressions” here in Boston since 2002. That’s over 20 years!
The festival’s aim is to bring together local, national, and international filmmakers in Boston. They screen not only feature-length films, but documentaries, shorts, and student works. And the works span multiple genres.
The 2024 BIFF kicks off on Thursday, April 11 and runs through Tuesday, April 16. Screenings take place at theatres in Boston, Cambridge, Dorchester, and Arlington. The full schedule of screenings and events is available here.
Tickets are available here. There are a number of options available, from a $250 All-Access VIP pass to $150 All-Access screening passes to $15 tickets to individual screenings. Which begs the question: what should you see?
2024 Boston International Film Fest: A Quick, Helpful Guide
Perhaps the most compelling film screening this year is The Other. It’s a documentary “exploring the complex relationship of shared humanity, culture and connection between Israelis & Palestinians.” Timely.
The film features the band System Ali, an interfaith collective of Palestinian and Israeli artist. Their message is one of peace and unity, and they’re performing at both the Opening Night Gala and after The Other screens on Friday.
Fans of true crime and Boston history will likely find Whitey On The Run a compelling choice. The Activated Man promises horror and thrills. And the animated short The Little Piratemaid tells the tale of courage in transition.
