Red Sox And MBTA Have Partnered To Offer Free Subway Rides Tonight
Guns N’ Roses are rolling into Fenway Park tonight and you can be on the “Nightrain” home for free. The Red Sox And MBTA have partnered to offer free subway rides.
These free rides will be from nearby Kenmore Station. “Beginning at 10 p.m. tonight, turnstiles at Kenmore Station will open for free entry to all fans. Fans can board the Green Line outbound toward Boston College, Cleveland Circle, or Riverside, or take the subway into the city for transfers to the Red, Orange, or Blue Lines on the MBTA subway system,” the Red Sox said in a press release.
The Red Sox organization will cover the MBTA cost for the open fare gates. This service will be available for over two-and-a-half hours. Tonight is the last show of the 2023 Fenway Concert Series.
Statement From The Red Sox
“We are committed to making it easy for fans to get to and from Fenway Park,” said Red Sox Executive Vice President for Legal and Government Affairs Dave Friedman. “This is a great way to do that, and we encourage fans to take advantage of public transit when traveling to the ballpark.”
Statement From The MBTA
“We are excited to partner with the Red Sox to offer free subway rides to Guns N’ Roses fans,” said MBTA General Manager Phil Eng. “This is a great way to encourage people to take public transportation to and from the concert and help reduce traffic congestion in the area.”
Parking options are always limited around Fenway Park. Taking mass transportation and leveraging this MBTA free subway ride home from Fenway Park will also lighten up the traffic. Getting to and leaving the Fenway area post-concerts can get congested.
“Perhaps” this will allow more time for Axl Rose to welcome you to the jungle, where “It’s So Easy” for Slash to rip “Absurd” guitar solos. You never know, with Guns N’ Roses, “Anything Goes.”
Massachusetts: Local Street Art Is Getting National Exposure
A New Bedford, Massachusetts street art display is now getting national attention by being published in a book by Simon & Schuster.
On the Wall Posters: Street Art is described as a one-of-a-kind collection of posters, all from local artists. This book showcases 30 graffiti and street mural-inspired wall posters. Furthermore, it is all from the local mural art project, Superflat NB.
Founded in 2017, Superflat NB works directly with New Bedford’s residents and other artists around the world. Together, they are creating transformative public art. The collection of posters they will be publishing into a colorful book will bring these art pieces to life. In fact, you can now insert them right into your home.
What Superflat means
Japanese contemporary artist, “Takashi Murakami coined the term to express spatial compression and the blending of high and low art in his own work.” Superflat NB explains via their website. “Surperflat NB will provide access to the arts by directly engaging New Bedford’s youth, artists, and its residents in the ideation and creation of transformative public art through the traditions of mural-making,” they conclude. Their aim is to revitalize the city of New Bedford by inspiring youth with this creative outlet. In addition, their murals will bring national artists’ work into the community.
Book Introduction
“Today, street art is used worldwide for self-expression and to add character to unexpected places,” the book quotes. What can you expect to find when you crack open this poster book? On The Wall Posters: Street Art explains it as “wildstyle graffiti tags and colorful B-boy characters, to pop-art, stencil-style mural and more.”
Here, we will look at three pieces featured in this Massachusetts street art book that will now receive national distribution.
The book is available for pre-order now. It will be officially released on September 19, 2023. In the meantime, you preview the images and find more information on their Simon & Schuster page.
