Billerica Family Raises Money with Holiday Light Display For Local Boy Battling Cancer
A home in Billerica is raising funds for a local child fighting cancer with their extensive Christmas light decorations, according to WBZ.
Cindy and Eddie Lossman have been creating this holiday display for 26 years at their home, located at 26 Biscayne Drive in Billerica. But for over ten years now, they have used the lights to raise funds and donations for people who need help in the community. This year, the couple is raising money for a 7-year-old boy, Nathan Casella, who has been fighting Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma since September.
The light display includes light-up Santas, candy canes, and even an iconic scene from “A Christmas Story” showing a boy with his tongue frozen to a pole. The house also has scheduled Santa visits, which are posted to their social media. Outside the holiday display, there is a donation box for visitors.
On Monday night, the Lossman’s hosted “Nathan’s Night,” which brought Nathan and his family to see the display, plus a special visit from Santa. Over $22,000 has been raised so far for Nathan through a GoFundMe. “The support we’re getting from people, strangers we don’t even know, it’s unbelievable,” Nathan’s father John Casella told WBZ at the event. “If I could only give back half of what people have given to us. It’s just… I’m just overwhelmed.”
