Deadline reports that a Heart biopic is in the works.  They report that, in a recent interview, Heart singer Ann Wilson said Carrie Brownstein of the punk band Sleater-Kinney (and the costar of IFC’s Portlandia) will write and direct.

“I saw the first draft of the script,” Ann Wilson said. “She’s working with the movie company — Amazon — and with the producer, Linda Obst, who did Sleepless in Seattle.” Obst’s other production credits include Flashdance, One Fine Day, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and the TV series Hot in Cleveland.

No casting decisions have been made as of yet, nor is there a release date.

The film is said to concentrate on the band's rise to stardom. Heart, of course, has always been led by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson; the Wilson sisters are the only original members who are still in the band.

Brian has been working in pop culture and media for about three decades: he’s worked at MTV, VH1, SiriusXM, CBS and Loudwire. Besides working as a writer and an editor-in-chief, he’s also appeared on air as a pundit, guested on radio shows and hosted podcasts. Over the years, he’s interviewed the surviving members of Led Zeppelin, the members of U2, Beyonce, Pink, Usher, Stevie Nicks, Lorde… and is grateful to have had the chance to interview Joe Strummer of the Clash and Tom Petty.
