Are mashups still a thing? I say they are. And for your entertainment I present this mashup: Live, Laugh, Love and your favorite love song.

I cannot take the credit for this bit. That distinction goes to Michael O’Connor Marotta, Editor-In-Chief of Boston-based online music and culture magazine Vanyaland and Director of Knyvet PR, also based in Boston. Michael’s a must-follow for me on Twitter, as he keeps me in the loop on all things musically worthwhile both locally and nationally. He also tosses a gem like this into my feed every once in awhile:

As I’ve mentioned in this space before, I spend entirely too much time on Twitter. Although my Twitter time has decreased in recent months. The wanna-be poster who is running the place now keeps making changes that make the platform less fun to hang out on. But I digress. I’ve had a couple of instances where I’ve “gone viral” on Twitter (by my meager standards). One was for riffing on Morrissey, the other was for drawing the ire of Swifties. That wasn’t fun at all.

When Live Laugh Love Meets Your Favorite Love Song

This latest exercise on the Twitter machine wasn’t a viral one by any means. Basically, I stole Michael’s bit, riffed on it, and got a bunch of other people to riff on it, too. The “Live Laugh Love” trope has been around for as long as people have been purchasing shoddily-made signs and art emblazoned with that basic catch phrase at big box stores. It’s been memed, memed again, and memed some more.

But I’d never seen the “Love” portion twisted into a song title. Michael shared his take, I shared mine, and then a bunch more tweeters jumped into the fray. I’ve shared a bunch that I “love” before so that you can get a “laugh” into your “life” today. Bless.
