Welcome to another edition of Today in Boston ROCK, where I, Adam 12, spotlight Very Important Days In Rock History. November 1st is one.
1962
November 1, 1962: Anthony Kiedis is born. He is best known, of course, as the lead singer of Tony Flow and the Miraculously Majestic Masters of Mayhem. Oh, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, too. You can enter to win tickets to their Fenway Park September 2022 show here. And you can check out a young Tony in his child-actor days, too.
1963
November 1, 1963: Richard John Cyril "Rick" Allen is born. He is best known as the one-armed drummer of '80s metal powerhouse Def Leppard. Important to note: he started his music career with both limbs intact; his arm was lost in a car accident on New Year's Eve, 1984.
1978
November 1, 1978: George Thorogood & The Destroyers release their second album Move It On Over. The album was recorded here in Boston at Dimension Sound Studios, and George talked to me about his Boston days not too long ago.

1994
November 1, 1994: Tom Petty releases his second solo studio album, Wildflowers. I wrote a bit about the 25th anniversary, and of course last year saw a reissue.

1994
November 1, 1994: Nirvana releases their highly anticipated MTV Unplugged in New York. Again, I went long on this one for the 25th anniversary. See where the set stacks up against 5 other classic Unplugged performances.

1996
November 1, 1996: Smashing Pumpkins headline the Hartford Civic Center for the Infinite Sadness tour. I was at the show! I spent it canoodling with a girl I met in the crowd, only to have the lights go up and my friends laughing at me when I finally got a good look at the girl I was canoodling with. No matter; the set was tremendous.
