Wicked Holiday Guide

If you need gluten free Thanksgiving options, you came to the right place! I have listed some safe foods for you to indulge in.

Since this is the first Thanksgiving I have to think about gluten free options, I want to help you too. (Well, if you are also gluten intolerant).

Thanksgiving is the time when the aroma of roasting turkey wafts through the air, and the promise of a food-induced nap looms. But for those of us on the gluten-free bandwagon, the holiday season can seem like a culinary minefield. I recently learned that I have a gluten intolerance. It was a sad, sad day. But knowledge is power, and I’m glad I now know why I felt so bloated after eating pizza.

I’ve done some research and found some tasty gluten free Thanksgiving foods for people just like me. To my surprise there are many wonderful mains and side dishes. Spoiler alert-the dessert will be the hardest part. You will need to make sure to have a gluten free crust, or just stick to the non-crust options like ice cream. Apple crisp, flourless chocolate cake, and gluten-free cookies also make for sweet endings to your gluten-free Thanksgiving feast.

How To Have “The Talk” With Your Parents

In this case, I’m talking about the gluten free talk. This will be the first year where I’ll have to break the news that I can’t eat my aunt’s famous blueberry pie. Or the buttered rolls that they always put on the table. If you’re like me, having that conversation is difficult because your parents don’t really even understand what “gluten free” even means. Tell them not to worry. Thankfully, most of the dishes you can eat. You might just have to opt out of the stuffing (or bring your own).

While the rest of the table may be laden with gluten-rich goodies, your plate will be a testament to the fact that a gluten-free Thanksgiving can be just as decadent and satisfying. So, arm yourself with knowledge, check those labels, and dive into a gluten-free Thanksgiving that will leave your taste buds singing and your belly full. Stay tuned for some mouthwatering gluten-free recipes down below. I want you to have a great Thanksgiving with your friends and family!

  • Gluten Free Stuffing

It’s really difficult to imagine a Thanksgiving dinner without stuffing. So if you need a gluten free option, I found this one from Williams Sonoma. While I’ve never tried it, I do know that making stuffing from a box is kind of cheating, but it’s SO much easier than making it from scratch.

You can make stuffing by using gluten free bread at the grocery store. Or you can use a recipe from a box. Either way, it’s going to make your gut feel better!

  • Turkey

You’re safe here with just an old fashioned Thanksgiving turkey! Especially if you are going to buy your own turkey and bake it yourself. Just make sure no wheat flour is added to it. No “fried” turkey for you (which is healthier in the long run anyways, right?) Also, stay away from the gravy. That will be one of the most gluten-heavy items at the Thanksgiving table. If you want to make your own here’s a recipe.
