The ROCK 92.9 crew was out in force at the Big Music Festival. Please enjoy our Boston Calling 2022 recap.

Looking back a year later, it’s still insane to me that Nine Inch Nails not only headlined back-to-back nights, but did so with no issue whatsoever. If you remember, NIN was originally the Friday headliner, with The Strokes set to headline on Saturday and Metallica closing the whole thing down on Sunday. Word started getting around that The Strokes were going to have to cancel due to a positive COVID test in their camp. Not only did Trent Reznor step up to take over their slot, he put together a whole new set.

That was, by far, the highlight of the 2022 edition of the festival for me. And that’s not to say anything against Metallica. Getting to see them for the first time in almost 20 years with both my mega-fan brother and my teenage son was a core memory for sure. I mean, hell, the band released their Boston Calling set as a double album. It was an all-timer! To be sure, last year’s Boston Calling was certainly something special. And it made my list of favorite festival moments, which you can dig into here.
