Connor’s Kindness Project Celebrates Random Acts of Kindness
Random Acts of Kindness Day is upon us once again. And Lynnfield-based Connor’s Kindness Project will inspire you.
Random Acts of Kindness Day is one of those “National Days” that pop up on our calendars and in our news feeds, similar to National Pizza Party Day and the like. Although this one has international roots, as it was first celebrated in New Zealand back in 2004. It’s the day where you pay for the person behind you in the drive-thru. Or you buy extra groceries and donate them to your local food bank.
The day comes around on February 17 every year, which means it falls on a Saturday in 2024. I know this because Sharon Marrama reached out not only to tell me, but to ask me to give her grandson Connor a shout-out on that day. You see, Connor is the founder of Connor’s Kindness Project. So Random Acts of Kindness Day? That’s a big deal to Connor, Sharon, and their family.
Connor’s Kindness Project Celebrates Random Acts of Kindness
This particular project was founded during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, Connor Wright was 12-years old and, like a lot of kids his age, was having a challenging time. He wanted to help kids who were sick or in quarantine. So he and Sharon started making and delivering COVID Care Packages with activities and comfort items for kids. Just like that, Connor’s Kindness Project was born.
In the years to come, Connor has expanded into making self-care baskets for Boston-area health care workers, building and delivering 42 Birthdays in a Box, and working on clothing drives for local nonprofits. Think about what you were doing back during your early teen years. What Connor is doing with his time and the impact that it’s having is beyond impressive.
So let’s show Connor some kindness on Random Acts of Kindness Day! Consider making a donation so Connor, Sharon, and their whole team can continue making a positive impact on their community and ours. You can find out more about Connor’s Kindness Project here, and make a donation here, if you feel moved to do so.
