The New England Patriots announced Tuesday that they will celebrate the career of former wide receiver Julian Edelman in a halftime ceremony during Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints. Edelman announced his retirement from pro football in the offseason.

A three-time Super Bowl champion with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, Edelman played all 12 of his NFL seasons in New England. His 620 career receptions rank second in franchise history, while his 1,442 career playoff receiving yards trail only Jerry Rice on the all-time list. Edelman also named the MVP of Super Bowl LIII after catching 10 passes for 141 yards in the Patriots’ win over the Los Angeles Rams.

Edelman will also be remembered for his catch late in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LI against the Falcons, which the Patriots described in a news release as “a miraculous 23-yard, diving, finger-tip catch” that moved them closer to the eventual game-tying touchdown. In addition, Edelman caught the eventual game-winning touchdown with just 2:06 left in Super Bowl XLIX against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Patriots play the Saints at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Gillette Stadium. The game will be broadcast on FOX, and as always, you can hear the call of the game on 98.5 The Sports Hub, starting with pregame at 10.
