Players are griping that Wordle, the popular, socially-shareable online word game, has changed since the New York Times took it over. So play these instead.

  • Lewdle

It’s Wordle, but with dirty words. How are you not playing this already?

  • Absurdle

In Wordle, you have six tries to guess the secret five-letter word. In Absurdle, you have infinite guesses…BECAUSE THE WORD CHANGES EVERY TIME YOU GUESS.

  • Quordle

What, Wordle isn’t enough of a challenge? Quordle might be more your speed: you gotta guess FOUR five-letter words in nine tries, total. Good luck with that.

  • Queerdle

The self-described “yassification of Wordle,” Queerdle is Wordle but with slang and terms from gay culture. This is my current favorite Wordle-inspired game.

  • Worldle

This one’s for geography junkies. Instead of a mystery word, it’s a mystery country. You get six guesses to identify it, and with each guess you get clues as to how far away your guess is from the mystery country, and what direction you’d need to move in to get there. Fun! Well, fun if you know world geography. A nightmare if you don’t.

  • Hello Wordl

Not feeling the whole five-letter-word thing? With Hello Wordl, YOU choose the world length: from four to eleven letters.
