If you love food… and you love the unusual, you’re gonna love this. LoveFood just ran down the most unusual restaurant in every state and the results are awesome. I mean who wouldn’t want to eat a stack of pancakes while sitting right in the middle of a barber shop, though cut hair and maple syrup definitely don’t go together.

I’ll give you the most unusual restaurant in every New England state, I’ll throw in a few fun extras, then we’ll wrap it up with the most unusual restaurant in Massachusetts.

And while we’re throwing around Massachusetts stuff, can you guess which Mass Shopping Mall has the most nightmare-inducing parking? We rank the worst Mass mall parking lots RIGHT HERE!

  • Most Unusual Restaurant in RHODE ISLAND:

    Ogie’s Trailer Park in Providence
What makes it “unusual:” It’s a trailer park-themed restaurant! You can dine in a variety of trailers, each tricked out in fun themes like Granny Boo’s Kitchen which is decked out in the most fabulously-dated 1970’s decor.

  • Most Unusual Restaurant in CONNECTICUT:

    Traveler Restaurant in Union
What makes it “unusual:” It’s basically a big “bring a book, leave a book, take a book” library. Patrons can browse the books, look through some while there, and take some on their travels. I’ve eaten here twice. It’s a very cool, magical little spot… and the food is pretty good too!

  • Most Unusual Restaurant in VERMONT:

Garden of Eatin’ Cafe in Williston
What makes it “unusual:” It’s located inside a working greenhouse and garden center. So while people are picking up mulch, you’re munching on freshly grown greens.

  • Most Unusual Restaurant in MAINE:

    Palace Diner in Biddeford
What makes it “unusual:” It’s Maine’s oldest diner, located inside an old Pollard railcar which was built in 1927.

  • Most Unusual Restaurant in NEW HAMPSHIRE:

The Little Red Schoolhouse in West Campton
What makes it “unusual:” It’s a restaurant in an old schoolhouse. If you don’t do good work, no dessert for you! Don’t worry, you don’t have to eat in one of those old deathtrap one-piece school desks.

  • Most Unusual Restaurant in CALIFORNIA:

Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar in San Francisco
What makes it “unusual:” How about the floating Gondola in the middle of the restaurant complete with a paddler. Hop on and enjoy some fried shimps!

  • Most Unusual Restaurant in COLORADO:

The Airplane Restaurant in Colorado Springs
What makes it “unusual:” It’s a restaurant inside an old Boeing KC-97 tanker built in 1957 and decommissioned in 2002. Best airline food ever.

  • Most Unusual Restaurant in FLORIDA:

    Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater in Orlando
What makes it “unusual:” Located inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios, this restaurant is set up as a drive-in theater – open-top cars provided. Enjoy a movie while you eat food…. and apparently dodge alien life? Though I found no reason why it’s so sci-fi. Anyone?

  • Most Unusual Restaurant in KENTUCKY:

    Jailhouse Pizza in Brandenburg
What makes it “unusual:” Pizza, served up behind bars of the old Meade County Jail. Pepperoni meets ‘Scared Straight.’

  • Most Unusual Restaurant in MASSACHUSETTS:

    Gibbet Hill Grill in Groton
What makes it “unusual:” It’s a 500-acre farm. From farm to table gets a whole new spin since technically the table is actually part of the farm as well. So fresh with beautiful countryside views.
