To me, The Topsfield Fair is the BIG E, east.
Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. From September 30 to October 10, Topsfield becomes the north shore’s epicenter for family fun, food and Ferris wheels. This fair comes with everything you’d expect from your good ole fashioned home town fair. What do I expect from a good ole fashioned hometown fair? Well, sit back and see if your list matches mine:
Pumpkin weigh-in
Hot dog eating contest
Farm animals with ribbons
Parades
Deep Fried Oreos (Actually, I never had this)
Apple Crisp (THIS, I have had)
Powdered sugar on my clothes
Tractors
Cool cowboy hats you can buy. (One day I will, I will buy one)
Performances from at least one big act I have heard of like Kansas
Tractor pulls
The Flying Wallendas
Clydesdales (A Jaybeau favorite)
And of course, more fair FOOD!
History
According to their website: On February 16, 1818, the first meeting about creating the Essex Agricultural Society to promote Agricultural interest, was held. Thanks to about 20 “practical farmers” at the Cyrus Cummings Tavern in Topsfield, The Topsfield Fair was born.
Location/Questions
The fair is located on the beautiful north shore of our great state at 207 Boston St, Topsfield, MA 01983. Of course, if you have never been to the fair, there are many questions you may have., like cost of admission, are the concerts free, parking, ATM access and many, many more. We took a deep dive into the fair, and came up a comprehensive list of items we thought you would be asking. Of course we recommend you take some time to research your trip, yourself. But, I wanted to give you a jump start, to help you insure a fun safe trip to the Topsfield Fair!
So, let’s get to it! It’s the Topsfield Fair, everything you need!
