So, you’re not going to be a snowbird, huh? You’ve decided that Mother Nature won’t tell you where to spend your time and retire. Florida is for gaggles of other New Englanders but not you! You’re looking to retire in the Bay State. But… what are the best places to retire in Massachusetts in 2024? That’s exactly what a study by Home Snacks, a service which helps people find a place to live that fits them personally, set out to find out.

They figured out the best places to retire by analyzing Census data to find all places in the Bay State — 245 cities and towns. They weeded those down to 69 by only looking at areas with over 10,000 residents. They looked at criteria taken from the Census, the FBI’s Crime Report, National Weather Service, and OpenFlights including cost of living, crime rates, things to do in the city/town, weather, distance to closest international airport, and more. They then ranked each places for each criterion from one to 69, with the lowest number being the best. Average all placings together and BOOM, you more or less have you a list.
