Mass Beer Week has returned for 2024. Let’s see what local breweries are taking part and spotlight some events for the week.

Mass Beer Week actually got underway over the weekend. The official dates for 2024 are March 2 through March 9. Typically, the annual celebration of breweries and brewers here in the Commonwealth takes place from the first Saturday in March through the second Saturday in March. I know this because I wrote about a bunch of my favorite locals to celebrate last year. You can peep that here.

MBW is sponsored and organized by the MBG. That’s the Massachusetts Brewers Guild. They formed in 2007 to promote craft brewing and protect the interests of craft brewers and craft breweries in Massachusetts. At the time of their founding, there were only 34 brewing licenses active in the state. Today, there are over 200 brewpubs, farm-breweries, and manufacturers according to the MBG. That’s a lot of beer!

Mass Beer Week 2024: 6 Events to Celebrate Local Craft Beer

There’s a couple of ways to go about celebrating this week, and I hope you’ll indulge in both. First of all, if you’re reading this, you’re likely a local craft beer enthusiast. Which means you likely have a favorite local brewer (or 2…or 3). Show them some love this week! Pop into their taproom if you’re able, or at the very least grab a four pack at your local packie.

Second, expand your horizons. Visit a taproom or brewpub you haven’t been to before. Maybe it’s the one that’s just a bit further away than your fave. Or maybe you have a night free this week where you can go for a drive and sample the wares from a far-flung craft brewer (responsibly, of course). I’m highlighting an event per night for the rest of the week below. You can get the full calendar here.
