I’ve seen The Black Keys live a half-dozen times and they just keep getting better. The playlist was balanced with songs from almost every album in their catalog and the stage show was spectacular.
Here's a short list of my favorite albums, reissues, live shows, TV shows, and films from 2019. Dig in and Happy New Year!
Best Album - Pedro The Lion 'Phoenix'

Indie legend David Bazan resurrected Pedro The Lion in 2019 and delivered one of his most introspectively rocking records yet.
Best Album - Bob Mould 'Sunshine Rock'

The ex-Hüsker Dü man has been on a tear with his solo work in recent years, and 'Sunshine Rock' absolutely rocks.
Best Album - Cave In 'Final Transmission'

The final recording featuring late bassist/vocalist Caleb Scofield will go down as a Massachusetts metal masterpiece.
Best Reissue - Stone Temple Pilots 'Purple'

STP pulled out all the stops for the 25th anniversary of their sophomore album. The remastered tracks pop, the rarities and unreleased tracks are some gems, and live set from 1994 captures the band at their zenith.
Best Live Show - The Black Keys, TD Garden

I've seen The Black Keys live a half-dozen times and they just keep getting better. The playlist was balanced with songs from almost every album in their catalog and the stage show was spectacular.
Best Film - Knives Out

It's a murder mystery turned inside out with an ensemble cast of absolute stars and it's the best damn movie I saw all year.
Best TV Show - Watchmen

Rarely am I as enthralled by a television show as I was by Watchmen. The source material was spun up and delivered in a way that captured 2019 almost too perfectly. It made me think, then blew my mind.
