Bret Michaels Comments on Future of ‘The Stadium Tour’
Many can assume that “The Stadium Tour” featuring Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts will likely be postponed like pretty much every other tour due to the coronavirus. While the official word has yet to be made about the future of the tour, Bret Michaels talked about it in a new interview.
Michaels said, “We’d all have to discuss it as bands and everybody. It comes down to the bands, because you’ve also got the lives of crew, your production, everybody that’s traveling with you. And we all would have to make that decision together. And I think you do it when it’s right and it’s safe, because the first thing that matters is health is number one.”
In early March, Michaels was one of the first artists to start pulling out of bookings due to the coronavirus. At that time, he canceled his appearance on The ’80s Cruise. A statement on his official website about that event mentioned, “Bret Michaels, a life long type1 Diabetic, falls under the category of those that run the extreme high risk of contracting this illness. Even if this illness is not contracted by Bret, he runs the risk of being quarantined on the ship with fellow music fans that might fall ill. Once again, being a Type 1 Diabetic, this would pose a problem of having enough insulin and supplies on hand for his survival for an undetermined amount of time.”
Earlier this week, Motley Crue was questioned by fans about the future of “The Stadium Tour” in an Instagram post. One fan wrote, “Cancel the tour already so your fans can get their money back. No tours are happening this year. Do the right thing. Bon Jovi did.” The Crue responded with, “Bands don’t decide this. We await info as well.” Another fan wrote, “Is this stadium tour on or off? So confusing with everyone saying different things. Governor said no shows till 2021 so what’s going on? I have VIP.” They replied, “No one has said anything as yet.”
