Hear Exciting Celtics Heat Playoffs Action on ROCK 92.9

The Celtics Heat Playoffs are underway, as the NBA Playoffs are underway. Action is heating up (sorry) and we have it for you here.

 

“But wait!” you cry out before donning your Bird throwback and Lucky the Leprechaun snapback: “You’re ROCK 92.9! Isn’t the Sports Hub the Celtics station?” Yes, they are. But we are, too.

 

Allow me to explain. Our sister station, 98.5 the Sports Hub, is the flagship station of the Boston Celtics. They are also the flagship station of the Boston Bruins. That team is in the playoffs, too.

 

And wouldn’t you know it, both team’s playoff schedules have a bit of overlapping going on. It would sound terrible to broadcast two games on the radio simultaneously. That’s where we come in.

Celtics Heat Playoffs on ROCK 92.9

It’s quite simple: when the Bruins and Celtics playoff games happen at the same time, the Sports Hub has the Bruins and we have the Celtics. It should probably be the other way around, given our logo colors. But still.

 

That means you’ll hear some Celtics Heat Playoffs games on ROCK 92.9. You can listen on the radio, pull the stream up online, or just fire up the free ROCK 92.9 app. Keep scrolling and we’ll lay out the schedule.

 

Celtics Heat Playoffs: Game 2

Game 2 takes place on Wednesday, April 24. Hardy, who hosts weekdays 4 to 7 p.m. kicks it off with his Roundball Rock segment after 6. Pregame with Grande and Max is at 6:30, with tipoff at 7.

 

 

Celtics Heat Playoffs: Game 3

Game 3 goes down on Saturday, April 27. No Hardy, as it’s Saturday. And it’s a late afternoon/early evening game. Pregame with Grande and Max will be at 5:30 with a 6:00 tipoff.

 

Heres’ hoping the C’s make quick work of the Heat in 4 or 5 games. Then maybe we’ll have some more games in the next round.

Is Boston the City With the Worst Sports Fans?

And by “worst sports fans” we’re talking about the most vulgar sports fans. Let’s see where Boston lands on the list.

 

Because of course Boston lands on the list. This should surprise no one. My two earliest sports memories involve vulgarity. As a kid, my dad took me to see the Celtics at the old Boston Garden. We were up in the balcony, and two rows in front of us was a guy with about a dozen empty beer cups stacked, shouting “LET’S GO CELTICS,” followed by various profanity, at a full-throated bellow.

 

Then there was the New England Blazers game I went to in middle school. Remember that old lacrosse team? They played at the Worcester Centrum. I spent the night seated behind a guy named “Whitey” who was even drunker than the guy at the Celtics game. I know his name because his buddies were egging him on as he said things to the halftime entertainment that I won’t repeat here.

 

Is Boston the City With the Worst Sports Fans?

So yeah, if by “worst” we mean “most vulgar”–and in this case, we do–Boston fans have earned that dubious distinction. Oddseeker recently published this: The Most Vulgar Fan Bases In The NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL. And here’s what their report had to say about Boston:

  • Among cities with teams in all four major sports leagues, Boston has the 6th most vulgar fans 
  • Among Boston teams, the Bruins have the most vulgar fan base, while the New England Patriots have the least
  • On the hardwood, the Celtics have the 5th most vulgar fan base in the NBA
  • Among MLB teams, the Red Sox have the 9th least vulgar fan base
