Boston Marathon Expo and Fan Fest Kick Off Marathon Weekend
When you think of the Boston Marathon, you think of Patriots’ Day when 30,000 strong run the 26 miles from Hopkinton to Boston, but the festivities start even earlier.
Two places for runners, spectators, and fans alike gather are the Marathon Expo, held at the Hynes Convention Center in the Back Bay, and the Boston Marathon Fan Fest over on City Hall Plaza. Both events open on Friday and run through the weekend.
Boston Marathon Expo
Free and open to the public, the Marathon Expo runs Friday, April 12th from 11am-6pm and Saturday & Sunday (April 13th & 14th) from 9am until 6pm.
The Expo is where runners can pick up their race bibs, packets, and t-shirts, but there’s plenty for non-runners to do. One of the highlights is the adidas Boston Marathon store, which anchors the sponsor pavilion and features the latest clothes, shoes and gear from the adidas Boston Marathon collection.
In addition to the sponsor pavilion, you can check out more than 200 exhibitors of running products, services, and more. Plus, check out some of the great events and programming the Expo will have on display.
Boston Marathon Fan Fest
The Boston Marathon Fan Fest is in a new location this year, City Hall Plaza. Previously held in Copley Square, the new location is open Friday through Sunday of marathon weekend. Like the Marathon Expo, Fan Fest is free and open to the public.
Described as the “place to soak in the race-week atmosphere and have fun as you gear up for race day,” Fan Fest will feature appearances from former marathon champions, along with live music each night, activities for all ages, race clinics, and more.
While you’re waiting for the excitement of the 128th Boston Marathon, and looking for something to do with the family or with friends this weekend, you can stop by either or both of these world-class events, certainly the price is right!
