Your Adorable Cat Picture Forgives Fees At Worcester Public Library
Your eyes are correct. It’s true. A simple cat picture forgives fees at the Worcester Public Library. You’re saying, but I don’t have a cat. No problem! You are forgiven. We’ll share in a moment.
“March Meowness” Cat Picture
If you haven’t noticed, my hometown of Worcester, Massachusetts is making national news again. This time, it’s wonderful news. While we all know that Covid changed our lives, there are some heartfelt, positive nuggets that came out of it. Let’s remember that famous Napoleon Hill quote:
Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal of greater benefit.
Since we’re quoting an author, what better time than now to bring up the Worcester Public Library. When the directors realized that Covid created an abundance of late fees, the smart people of my town library sent cats to the rescue. According to the library website, it’s Cat Month:
We want you back at the library, so we are offering one month of fee forgiveness for lost or damaged items from the Worcester Public Library! Show us a picture of your cat, a famous cat, a picture you drew of a cat, a shelter cat – any cat, and we will forgive WPL fees on your library account.
Your work of art is not limited to just cats, by the way. According to upi.com:
The library’s website clarified that the program is not limited to images of felines: “We will accept honorary cats as well, so you may show us a picture or drawing of a dog, raccoon, orca, capybara or any other animal.”
Since this story broke, the library reports that over 400 accounts were cleared of fines during the first five days of March, oh sorry, “March Meowness.”
So get out your smart phone, scrapbook, or pencil! Your cat picture forgives your fees!
As far as your real cat forgiving you, you’re on your own. By the way, say hi to my cat, Ellie. Does the look on her face say forgiveness?
