Legendary ’80s Boston Bands Reunite for Benefit Concert
A pair of legendary ’80s Boston bands are reuniting for a worthy cause in January. And it’s a “One Night Only” situation, so take note.
O Positive formed in the suburbs west of Boston in 1983. They were invited to perform in the Rock & Roll Rumble in 1985, and while they didn’t make the finals, they did make an EP, 1985’s Only Breathing, that put them on the map. Throughout the rest of the ’80s and into the ’90s, O Positive were a Boston scene mainstay, getting plenty of airplay on radio stations like WBCN and WFNX.
Three Colors got their start in New London, Connecticut, where Connecticut College students Chris Hartford, Hub Moore, and Barry Stringfellow came together to form a post-punk trio. The band soon moved to Boston and were joined by Dana Colley, the beloved Boston musician and saxophonist best know for his years as a member of the Boston band Morphine.
