Bret Michaels Undergoing Procedure to Remove Skin Cancer

Bret Michaels shared a health update with fans and revealed a recent biopsy detected skin cancer.

Michaels published the news via his official website where he wrote the following:

“After a very recent kickoff to the new year, physical & MRI, it has been brought to my attention that I have torn my right shoulder rotator cuff which would answer the question why it looks like a lump or bone was sticking out of my right shoulder. A little more complex I will also have to undergo a procedure to remove skin cancer that was detected after a recent biopsy. I’m in the hands of incredible specialists who are both positive for great outcomes. It may slow me down a bit at the beginning of the year, but if God willing I promise this year will be awesome. Just a few less solo shows & special events until I get this all squared up. As always continuing great diabetic maintenance to keep on rocking in 2020!”

Michaels and Poison are part of the highly-anticipated Stadium Tour with Def Leppard, Motley Crue and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts. It appears Michaels’ treatment won’t affect his participation of the tour.

• The 1980’s wasn’t a “mockable decade” for music.

  Def Leppard's Joe Elliott made a very interesting point about what this tour means for this genre of music. He said,"You just put those four names on a piece of paper and look at ’em, whichever way ’round they look at it, it’s a big statement really. And you know, the Eighties get mocked a lot. There is a lot of people that still think of the Eighties as a mockable decade, and we’re about to prove that it’s not. It’s last man standing to a point, maybe, but we have survived… You can sit and analyze it all you like, but at the end of the day, if the songs are still getting played on the radio, there’s a reason for that. It’s because they were good songs."

  Now that the Crue is back together, what should fans expects from Tommy Lee and his drumming theatrics? "I’m going to shoot myself out of a fucking cannon at this point," said Lee. "I don’t even know what’s left to do. We started designing the production a couple of days ago. We’ve always put everything we have into the design and the production, always try to do a show where people walk out going, ‘That was f---ing insane.’” What all that means is unknown as of right now, but Lee also said, "...everything's going to be four times as big" since they're playing stadiums.

  Nikki Sixx made is very clear that he never thought Motley Crue would tour again after their last tour. He said, "We weren’t really getting along at that point. We had been together 35 years and it’s been a lot of years on the road. I don’t think we took a lot of time for ourselves off. We were just constantly touring for all that time. And when we came to the end, we broke the band up and everybody went their own ways. I think we really needed that break." However, that all changed with the script writing and filming of 'The Dirt.' Sixx said, "And I think we sort of realized how much, without even talking about the music, how much we missed each other… We missed each other to be honest with you. We missed being in a band together."

  With a bill like this, plenty of people are going to want to check out the show and have a blast, and that's something Poison's Bret Michaels knows and made a point to mention, "I'm just telling you that it is going to be not just ‘The Stadium Tour,’ it is the party of the summer." Nikki Sixx even mentioned, "Bret was saying to me a little while ago, [if] he wasn’t on the bill, he’d be going to the show."

  Yesterday, 22 shows were announced for "The Stadium Tour," but more might be on the way. Joe Elliott said, "There’s 22 stadium shows, so it’s pretty much most major territories. And in fairness it seems to be growing and there’s more interest before it’s even gone on sale. So it may extend one way or another, even in the next year."
