The Top 10 Baby Boomer Complaints That Even Young People agree with.

Looks like we have found common ground after all. Maybe there will be peace in our time. It’s good to know that there are things that we can all agree on that are irksome and bothersome to all generations. This is good news, because it has seemed as though the chasm between Boomers, Gen Xers and Millennials  might be too far to cross over and see things the same way. We have found the Top 10 Baby Boomer complaints that even young people agree with.

Generational divides

The differences in life experiences between the generations are immense. Ask a Millennial how to use a dial phone and they are perplexed, show them a phone booth and they are lost. For Boomers, modern technology that is quite latterly at the tips of your fingers can prove to be stymieing and mystifying. If you have ever watched a non- Boomer type out at text using both hands with lightening speed, it can appear that they are actually from a different species all together.

Finally Boomers, Gen Xers and Millennials Can agree on something!

Someone asked young people to name Baby Boomer opinions they actually agree with.It turns out that Baby Boomers complaints can be relatable to young people too.  Highlights include: Music everywhere is too loud . . . dials are better than touchscreens . . . and the best way to leave a social setting is to do a “double thigh slap” and say, “Whelp, best be moseyin’ on.”

The good news is, there is common ground with our common frustrations

We constantly hear about how young people are at odds with Baby Boomers. But not on everything. It seems that people are people and no matter the age group we can all be annoyed at the same things. The common complaints come from the over abundance of technology or as simple as not finding a good parking space.

Someone asked Gen Zers and Millennials to list things older generations got right, or Boomer complaints they actually agree with. Here are a few favorites:

  • 10. Setting off fireworks after 10pm is wrong!

    fireworks

If you’re setting off fireworks at 10:00 PM and it’s not July 4th, you’re a jerk. We can all agree that fireworks need to be shut down by 10pm, no need to go later than that. Plus, if you have a dog or a pet that is super sensitive to the loud noises, you know how traumatic it is to them.  Be a good neighbor!

  • 9. Give me a real menu!

Give me a real menu. I don’t want to scan a QR code. This really took off during the Covid 19 pandemic when restaurants were leery of having diners share menus, which was understandable, but now places like it because it saves money on printing and cleaning. Most of us prefer a printed menu.

  • 8. Just eat something already!

    Romantic dinner

Not all food needs to be gourmet or “elevated.” Just eat something. These days some people like to feel like every meal should be instagram worthy, that doesn’t have to be case. Sometimes you just want a simple non photo worthy meal.

  • 7. We don't need Apps for everything!

'Hey Siri, I'm Getting Pulled Over' Shortcut Has Been Added To iPhones To Discreetly Record Police

You shouldn’t have to download an app for EVERYTHING. No matter where you go, there seems to be an app for it. Even hospitals have apps they want you to download to go “paper free”. Who has the time to deal with so many apps? It’s just another password to remember!

  • 6. Only service pets allowed!

Pets shouldn’t be allowed in stores. Service animals are fine, but you shouldn’t be walking around TJ Maxx with a Great Dane. Other than pet stores are there other places that you should bring your dog to? Maybe an out door brewery that is dog friendly is ok too.

  • 5. Turn down that dang music!

Music everywhere is too loud, including the mood music at stores. If you have to yell over the top of your lungs to have a conversation, then it’s too loud. Nothing cool about going deaf. Also, we don’t need to hear your “jams” coming out of your car.

  • 4. Start stuff on time!

    don't be late

Things should start on time, specifically concerts. Nobody likes to be kept waiting especially at a concert. If it is supposed to start at a certain time, the artists should watch the clock and be on time. That goes for movies too. They play so many ads and previews that movies now start up to 20 or 30 minutes after the “start time”!

  • 3. Not enough parking spaces!

    parked cars

There’s not enough parking. If a place doesn’t have easy parking nearby, it’s not worth going. Is there anything more aggravating than trying to find a parking spot and actually stalking someone leaving just to take their spot? Parking lots should be able to hold more than enough cars.

  • 2. Bring something to the party!

If you’re going to a party, bring something. Not enough of us do that anymore. Nobody should come to the party empty handed, even if the host says they don’t need anything. Bring a gift of some sort, wine, dessert anything but bring something. People notice!

  • 1. Show me the knobs!

    radio knob

Physical knobs, buttons and dials are great. Not everything needs to be a touchscreen. We like our knobs! Who ever decided that everything has to be touchscreen? Nobody asked us. We like to reach out and turn it up or down and dial it in. Don’t touch my knobs!
