Museum of Ice Cream Opens in Boston’s Seaport
The Museum of Ice Cream has opened in Boston’s Seaport. The new two-floor facility at 121 Seaport Blvd. engages visitors in an immersive experience with interactive exhibits celebrating this beloved cool treat.
Among the most-anticipated visitor attractions within the museum is the Fenway Park-themed carnival diorama area, “FunWay Park,” which contains treats and games.
FunWay Park is Massachusetts native and Museum of Ice Cream Co-Founder Manish Vora’s favorite spot. “For us, the FunWay Park, the red seat in the galley, which is inspired by the boats in the harbor and the chipwich. I grew up in Wayland eating that chipwich. It was the ultimate dream at 99 cents in the cafeteria,” Vora told WBZ News.
Throughout the museum, visitors will find ample opportunities to learn about and enjoy ice cream. How about sampling a lobster roll ice cream or a vanilla fudge milkshake? Vegan and dairy-free desserts are also available.
And what would ice cream be without the sprinkles in a “sprinkle pool”?
“Play is universal. We’re inviting everyone to rediscover their inner child with us here in the sprinkle pool,” museum employee Alex Papayoanou said.
Stepping out of the pool, visitors can take a seat at an old-fashioned diner counter, wander through the Hall of Freezers, relax in a cookie-themed living room set, and create unique ice cream flavors in a dedicated flavor lab.
Museum tickets start at $25 for weekday visits and $35 for weekend visits. Children ages 2 and younger are free.
The Museum of Ice Cream is open six days a week, Wednesday through Monday, beginning at 10 a.m. Closing times vary by day: 5 p.m. on Monday, 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, and 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
