Did You Know Forever 21 Takes Shein Returns? How It Works
It’s incredible how much you can learn during a late-night scroll on social media. I stumbled across a complete game-changer while on Facebook the other day. I saw a post from someone that said, “So nobody was gone tell me you can return your SHEIN clothes at forever21.” So, naturally, I had to fact-check this bit of information. And yes, it’s true.
Since when did Shein let you return items to Forever 21?
If you’re thinking, “How in the world did I not know this?” It’s okay, it was just announced by the online retailer a few days ago. SHEIN said in a press release that consumers are looking for more options when returning online purchases and their solution to meet this demand was to partner with Happy Returns to implement their BORIS (buy-online-return-in-store) solution.
This enables retailers to accept box-free, label-free returns and exchanges across store networks. The system includes several software and reverse logistics components that can be easily adapted to successfully serve a wide range of customer needs and configurations.
“Over the past eight years, we’ve developed cross-brand box-free returns from innovative idea to an enterprise-grade solution,” says David Sobie, co-founder and CEO of Happy Returns. “Now we’re leveraging our technology, expertise and scale in reverse logistics to be the first to enable retailers to seamlessly accept returns throughout their full networks.”
Happy Returns will be available for SHEIN customers at Forever 21 retail locations across the continental U.S. The process will be simple and hassle-free. A QR code will be generated through SHEIN’s returns portal for the shopper to use, which can then be scanned at Forever 21. A quick verification by a store associate will ensure the correct item is returned. Plus, there’s an added perk: Shoppers will receive a same-day discount on their next Forever 21 purchases.
Once returns are dropped off, Happy Returns provides “configurable reverse logistics” options to move inventory to the next best place for sale. This can be keeping it in-store, moving it to a different store in the retailer’s network, or shipping returns to an e-commerce warehouse. Everything from shipping supplies to coordinating pick-ups to shipping the inventory can be included, along with visibility to track returned goods on each step of their journey.
Some people may notice that this is a similar concept to Amazon’s “hassle-free returns.” The company offers returns to local Amazon Fresh, Amazon Go, or Whole Foods Market with no shipping box, tape, or label necessary. If there are no physical Amazon stores, they also offer returns at local stores like Staples, Kohl’s, and the UPS Store.
There Are Some Exceptions
According to SHEIN’s return policy, as many people are already familiar with, some items you are unable to return. So, keep an eye out for those items. They typically say whether or not an item is returnable or not upon ordering.
Bodysuits, lingerie, underwear, jewelry, accessories, cosmetics, and pet products are among the items that can’t be returned or exchanged. Additionally, free gifts and customized items can’t be returned or exchanged.
People React
Like I said before, it’s a total game changer. Other people seem to share this excitement too. The Facebook post I happened to stumble across has almost 400 comments and over 1.1K shares. Someone responded to the post saying, “Girl whatttt you told me something new.” Another person said, “Omg seriously? Is it everywhere or only select locations? You know how many SHEIN clothes I had to keep cus it was so complicated to return they want all these photos and reasons.” Someone else said, “And I just been taking Ls [laughing emoji] not any moreeee.”
Many people pointed out how this move just makes sense because the retailers sell similar items. I would agree. Affordable (most of the time) and fashionable.
You may have noticed since 2019 that several Forever 21 locations have closed their doors. But there are still plenty of locations around. Find the locations near you here.
