JetBlue Offering New Direct European Flights Out of Boston
For those planning a big getaway in 2025, JetBlue announced it’s adding new direct transatlantic flight routes.
In a press release, the airline shared that starting May 22, they will be offering daily nonstop service from Boston Logan International Airport to Madrid, Spain and Edinburgh, Scotland.
Daniel Shurz, head of revenue, network and enterprise planning at JetBlue, said in a statement, “Madrid and Edinburgh represent two of Europe’s most exciting and popular destinations, and we’re happy to offer even more transatlantic travel options for our customers from Boston and New England. Europe continues to be part of our network strategy, as our loyal customers look for JetBlue’s signature service and low fares to bring them to top leisure destinations, including across the Atlantic.”
With the addition of Madrid and Edinburgh, the list of daily nonstop flight offerings from Logan International includes service to London (Heathrow and Gatwick), Paris, Amsterdam, and Dublin.
JetBlue Opening Lounge at Logan International Airport
In September, JetBlue announced it is opening lounges for the first time in the airline’s history, including one at Boston Logan International Airport.
Per a press release, the JetBlue lounge at Logan International will be located in Terminal C and is the second lounge from the airliner to open. The first lounge will be in New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport Terminal 5, and it’s currently slated to open in late 2025.
These new lounges are part of JetBlue’s new campaign to offer their customers more premium options when they travel as part of their TrueBlue Mosaic loyalty program. According to AFAR, this campaign will see the rollout of these premium options between 2025 and 2027 to the tune of $400 million.
Additionally, a new premium credit card is part of the new campaign, which will grant holders complimentary lounge access. TrueBlue Mosaic 4 members and Transatlantic Mint customers will also receive complimentary lounge access. JetBlue’s full lounge access policy will be released at a later date.
JetBlue President Marty St. George said in a statement, “Customers have asked for a JetBlue lounge for years and we can’t wait to unveil our take in New York and Boston. Lounges have become an essential offering for the growing numbers of customers seeking premium experiences, and JetBlue’s lounges will further boost the value of our TrueBlue loyalty program as we expand our portfolio of JetBlue credit cards.”
The JetBlue lounge at Logan International will be 11,000 square feet and feature local and regional artwork. Mixologists will be on hand to make each guest complimentary alcoholic drinks, with a full-service bar also on hand for non-alcoholic drinks and a staffed coffee bar. Free Wi-Fi will be available, as well as ample seating, many private workspaces and outlets for guest to plug in and work or charge their devices. There will also be complementary food offerings available to guests.
JetBlue CEO told Yahoo! Business about the new lounges, “We’re focused on really executing to our strategy and focusing on our inherent strengths to bring us back to profitability … JetBlue is undervalued, and we strongly believe that.”
Earlier this month, JetBlue began service from Logan International to Presque Isle International Airport in Maine, which operates daily. Dave Jehn, vice president of network planning and airline partnerships at JetBlue, said in a statement, “We are happy to bring the long-desired Boston flights back to Presque Isle and the surrounding communities. This new service exemplifies our commitment to providing customers throughout New England with high-quality service to the places they most want to go.”
