Boston is the 3rd Most Caring City in America
A new study from WalletHub determined that Boston is the third most caring city in America.
In order to determine their results, WalletHub stated it compared the 100 largest cities in the country across 38 “key indicators of a compassionate spirit.” Among the indicators considered were share of income donated to charity, volunteering hours per capita, and sheltered homeless people.
Of those 38 “key indicators,” Boston came in first for population working in community and social services per capita and teachers’ care for students’ well-being. The city also placed second in percentage of sheltered homeless persons. It was also found that Boston residents donated more money online per capita than any other city in the United States.
WalletHub further noted, “Boston also cares for the environment, something that dates back to at least 1634 when the city established America’s oldest public park. That environmentally conscious behavior continues into the modern age, as Boston ranks as the third-most energy-efficient city in the country.”
