Seaport District to Elect First-Ever Dog Mayor in 2024
The election of our lifetime is upon us: The Seaport District will be electing its very first Dog Mayor!
This competitive “Bark the Vote” race is down to five dogs, who received the most nominations from the public. Below are pictures of each candidate, a brief bio and a link to their Instagram accounts.
Aspen (@aspen.theadventurepup)
Aspen is described as a “5-year-old adventure loving Doogle who starts every day with meditation by the water.
Bennett (@bennett_in_boston)
Bennett is described as “an 8.5-month-old Golden Retriever, a self-proclaimed ‘couch potato king’ with a love for greeting everyone on the Harborwalk.”
Lady (@ladydoodlegram)
Lady is described as “an 18-month old Goldendoodle whose gentle heart and snow-zoomies make her a Seaport sweetheart.”
Macie (@macieraeemerson)
Macie is described as “a 1-year-old Golden Retriever with a penchant for holding her own leash and ‘talking’ to new friends.”
Rhubarb/aka: Rhu (@rhuthemaltipoo)
Lastly, Rhubarb (aka: Rhu) is described as “a 2-year-old Maltipoo known for her ‘BDE’ (Big Dog Energy) and signature ‘party paws’ dance.”
Seaport citizens will be able to meet the candidates at Polkadog Seaport on the boardwalk to help them decide who to vote for. Lady and Macie will have their “Meet the Candidates” event on October 8. Meanwhile, Rhubarb, Aspen and Bennett’s event will be on October 11.
Voting for the first Dog Mayor will open on October 15 and close on October 30. The winner of Seaport’s first Dog Mayor election will be announced on November 1. The first InDOGuration (yes, it’s really called that!) will take place in March 2025.

- Dog Mayor will be featured on the Seaport’s neighborhood sticker sheet
- Dog Mayor will receive a “skip the line” pass to Cisco Brewers and The Holiday Market for them and two guests
- Dog Mayor will receive an original official dog mayor oil portrait
- A copy of the official Dog Mayor portrait will also be hung at Sea Green Park at the InDOGuration
- Dog Mayor to have name plaque on Barksworth Manor, a ceremonial dog house to be installed at Sea Green Park, and unveiled at the InDOGuration in 2025
- Dog Mayor to be guest of honor at March inDOGuration
- Dog Mayor will also be invited to attend neighborhood events as a guest of honor
- Seaport will donate $2,000 to an animal rescue of the Dog Mayor’s choice
