Well, they say if it lasts longer than 4 hours you should call a doctor. However, what should you do if it lasts two days? That’s what one man in Africa is wondering. The African man is experiencing extreme pain after his erection lasted two straight days.
Now, two days is a long time. It’s a long time to do any activity, even a pleasant one. This man was ready for this to be over.
Man In Extreme Pain After Erection Lasts Two Straight Days
The 42-year old man from Ghana, a sickle cell patient, is going through a rare condition called priapism, which causes the penis to remain erect for two days without any sort of sexual stimulation, according to Ghanaweb.com.
According to reports, the man, identified as Stephen Danquah, has been “in agony for days, as he is unable to urinate, sleep, or get any relief from his condition,” per Ghanaweb.com.
Now, he’s been left to essentially face it on his own as his family is reportedly afraid of the condition and have reportedly neglected him. Reports say he’s in extreme pain and even considered harming himself because the pain was so severe, per Ghanaweb.com.
A doctor told Ghanaweb.com that priapism can be common in patients with sickle cell. Priapism is a disorder in which the penis maintains a prolonged, rigid, erection in the absence of appropriate stimulation, according to the National Institutes of Health. If left untreated, it can cause penile corporal tissue necrosis and fibrosis. Additionally, permanent erectile dysfunction can happen if left untreated.
