Should You Throw Away The Christmas Cards You Receive Immediately? This Woman Says Yes!
Do you still send Christmas cards?
We seem to be getting less and less every year. With the advent of the internet where you can email your Christmas greetings or you can post something on Facebook, more of us are opting out of the card tradition. Our family still sends out our cards every year but we have reduced the number of recipients over the years. Some people you just fall out of your lives for various reasons, some may pass on and others you may have forgotten over time. What do you do with the cards you get? Should you throw away the Christmas cards you receive immediately?
Most of us keep the cards at least through the holidays and into the New Year. Some of us keep them in a nice card basket or some of us like to tape them to a door or a door frame. That’s what we used to do, but now we put them in a basket to pull out and re read. I’m pretty sure my wife has kept dozens of cards over the years. They can bring a bit of cheer especially some sent from a favorite relative who is no longer with us.
Then there are those among us who toss them on the same day
A TikTok’er named Chanci Studdard has gone viral with her video announcing that she’s DONE with Christmas cards. She wants her friends and family to know that if they send her one, she’s going to look at it, and then throw it away.
This is about avoiding clutter. She even holds up a couple of cards she got this year that are about to be tossed.
One is from a friend, and she says, quote, “Melissa, I’m sorry you didn’t know. And y’all look so cute and your family’s all dressed up for the occasion, and you all look precious but . . . I’m about to throw it in the garbage.”
