Outdoor Dining Options in Boston
Ten days earlier than planned, outdoor dining in Boston is officially open (well, except the North End neighborhood of the city, which will open on April 1st). There are so many reasons why you should frequent your favorites or try a place you’ve always wanted to try. Not only being locked away for the last few winter months, but for what we’ve endured over the last year, let’s get outside!
Supporting local bars and restaurants is vital right now. Many who have spent their lives building their businesses, have lost them or are barely hanging on. As one of the hardest hit industries of the Pandemic, outdoor dining adds another outlet for them to get their restaurants thriving again. It also means they may be able to hire back employees they were forced to lay off. Your meal will do more than just fill your belly.
As we know, New England weather can be a fickle mistress so many spots will warm customers with outdoor heaters. You might even find an inflatable igloo to dine in.

Union Oyster House, a National Historic Landmark, is set to reopen it’s outdoor dining as Union Street is shut down like it was this past Summer and Fall. America’s Oldest Tavern, Bell In Hand, will also set-up shop outside on Union Street.
Mida, an Italian influenced establishment in the South End, will reopen it’s space from last year and welcome back customers to dine Al Fresco. Darryl’s Bar and Kitchen on Columbus Ave. will serve up it’s Southern Comfort foods and original cocktails on it’s sidewalk outdoor dining option, where you can enjoy a cozy meal for two.
Alcove on Lovejoy Wharf, close to TD Garden, offers a hidden away patio with beautiful views. Henrietta’s Table in Cambridge, but known far and wide, will open up it’s large and beautiful patio with it’s farm-to-table offerings. Of course, we couldn’t write this without including Sullivan’s Castle Island. A Southie landmark since 1951, this location offers multiple outdoor dining areas…round picnic table style benches, small grassy hills in front of Fort Independence to sit on, benches along the waterfront, a small sandy beach at low tide.
