Ranking The Muppet Movies
Jim Henson’s creations first appeared on television in 1976. The Muppet Show was a variety program that brought the lovable puppets and celebrities together. Since then, Kermit, Miss Piggy and the rest of the gang have appeared in over 8 movies with that span of 35 years. In honor of the Muppets’ inventor, Jim Henson’s birthday (September 24), here are all of their films ranked.
8. Muppets From Space (1999)
Yes, the funk soundtrack may have been amazing, but this film was overly bad. Can we take a moment to reinstate that Gonzo is not an alien. He just played on for this silly little film.
7. Muppets Take Manhattan (1984)
Here’s where we struggled with the list! The song “Together Again” is wonderful and so is Kermit and Miss Piggy’s wedding scene, but baby Muppets are just weird! They did lead to an eventual animated spin-off!

6. Muppets Treasure Island (1996)
When I think of original Muppet movies, this is the first one that comes to mind. Our major problem with the film is that it didn’t feature our favorite puppets enough! There were too many humans and not enough Rizzo.
5. Muppets Most Wanted (2014)
This movie did have a series of amazing songs, but it still didn’t live up to The Muppet. It was funny, fun, but still did not live up to the originals.

4. The Great Muppet Caper (1981)
Fun fact: this was the only Muppet movie to be directed by Jim Henson! The overseas crime-based film was fun and had a lot of deep moments that made us fall in love with the characters even more. Side note: can we take a moment to remember the twin brothers gag? Uh, yeah.
3. The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)

This is probably one of the best Christmas movies. Well, besides Elf, but this is a Jim Henson based list so Buddy will have to take a backseat. Michael Caine as Scrooge was almost as perfect as him in Batman. The Muppet Christmas Carol will always give us nostalgic feels.

2. The Muppet Movie (1979)
The Muppets were at the height of their popularity, so it only makes sense that this movie was close to the top of the list. Trying to make their way to Hollywood, the characters take a hilarious road trip. Plus too, we get the deeply sad “The Rainbow Collection” from this movie!
1. The Muppets (2011)
It was 12 years since The Muppets had appeared in a movie. Needless to say, we were shocked how on point this film was to the rest of the beloved series. It not only brought the old series to this generation, but it also gave us Oscar-worthy songs!
