Trifecta

Defensive back Cameron Glenn #2 of the Wake Forest Demon Deacons leads a tackle of running back Deon Jackson #25 of the Duke Blue Devils.

Week 8 of the NFL season and a new week of college football is upon us, so making money relaxing on the couch eels like a great option. Bill Breinich has found several opportunities to cash some slips, with teams returning from the bye weeks. Let’s dive in to our picks, all thanks to predictive analytics experts Dimers.com.

  • LEG 1 – Duke Blue Devils at Wake Forest Demon Deacons, October 30th

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons know exactly how to put the ball in the endzone and several times per game matter of fact. They hung 70 points last week after a huge win against Army, 70-56.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons average 43.5 points per game and I don’t see it slowing down much at all against the Duke Blue Devils.

The Blue Devils average 27 points per game, but with it being an ACC showdown, look for Duke to be able to move the ball and look to make this as close of a game as possible.

PICK: TOTAL POINTS OVER 70 (-110)

  • LEG 2 – Penn State Nittany Lions at Ohio State Buckeyes, October 30th

The Nittany Lions travel to the horseshoe in a rivalry with the Buckeyes of Ohio State. The Lions are coming off a heartbreaking 9 OT loss to Illinois which, mathematically eliminates them from the college football playoff.

Other than other hand, the Buckeyes are now clicking on all cylinders behind freshman quarterback CJ Stroud. They are averaging 559.3 yards of offense per game, and Penn State has not seen a offense of this caliber yet this year.

Penn State will need a huge defensive game, because they cannot simply score with the Buckeyes to keep this close.

PICK: OHIO STATE TO COVER THE SPREAD (-18.5)

  • LEG 3 – Jacksonville Jaguars at Seattle Seahawks, October 31st

The Jaguars and the Seahawks both rank in the bottom tier of Points Per Game. The Jaguars average 19.3, and Seattle 21.4.

Seattle’s number are a little off with Geno Smith taking over under center, though.

In Seattle’s last three games, they average a total of 15.6 points.

Other than other side of the spectrum, the Trevor Lawrence led Jaguars don’t produce much offensive display either. The highest point total of the season came last week against the Dolphins when they scored 23 points.

Look for this game to stay under the point total by a field goal or a touchdown. I’m going to predict a 21-17 final score.

    PICK: TOTAL POINTS UNDER 44
