Marvel Gives Preview Of Daredevil, Ironheart and More
Last night, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe had a great surprise: a new trailer touting all of Marvel’s upcoming TV shows was tacked to the beginning of Marvel’s shows on Disney+ without warning. Today, they officially released the trailer. It starts with a scene from Deadpool & Wolverine where Deadpool is watching a number of monitors at the Time Variance Authority, or the TVA. But instead of the scenes that were on the monitors in the movie, we see scenes from Marvel’s upcoming slate of TV shows that will air on Disney+.

First, we see scenes from Daredevil: Born Again. This is a sort of continuation of the Daredevil series that aired for three seasons on Netflix between 2015 and 2018. We see Charlie Cox returning as Matt Murdock/Daredevil (he has since appeared in cameos on the 2021 film Spider-Man: No Way Home and the 2024 show Echo, and had a more substantial role in 2022’s She-Hulk: Attorney At Law). Murdock bumps into Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin (played again by Vincent D’Onofrio; we’ve recently seen him in 2021’s Hawkeye and 2024’s Echo). Fisk says to Murdock, “It’s been some time, hasn’t it?” We also get glimpses of Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle, aka the Punisher (who had his own two-season Netflix spinoff from 2017-2019). And, as always with the Daredevil series, there were some brutal-looking fight scenes.
From there, things get a bit lighter with scenes from the animated show, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. The show is obviously meant for kids and explores Peter Parker’s early days as Spider-Man; the title role is voiced by Hudson Thames, who first voiced Spider-Man in the What If…? animated series. (More on that in a minute.) This show doesn’t appear to be “canon”; in other words, it isn’t connected to the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Next, we catch a few moments from the highly anticipated Ironheart series. Riri Williams, played by Dominque Thorne, is a genius who we first met in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She is a Tony Stark-level scientist and has created armor akin to Iron Man’s. We also get a glimpse of Anthony Ramos’ Parker (“The Hood”) Robbins character.
There’s also a trailer for What If…? season three; What If…? is an animated show that looks at alternate versions of the Marvel universe. Some of the concepts introduced in that series have ended up in the live action films. For example, Sharon Carter as Captain America cameoed in 2022’s Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. We then see a bit of Marvel Zombies, which is also animated and spins out of an older What If…? episode.
Then we meet Wonder Man. Played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, the character, whose alias is Simon Williams, is a superhero who really just wants to be an actor. We see him walk into an audition: “I’m Simon Williams. I’m reading for Wonder Man.” We see that the series will mark the return of Ben Kingsley’s character Trevor Slattery, who we first met in 2013’s Iron Man 3, then in a 2014 DVD exclusive short film All Hail The King and most recently in 2021’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Finally, we get a very quick look at Eyes Of Wakanda, another animated show. As you’d guess, it’s a Black Panther spinoff, and is said to be canon.
If you want to mark the dates in your calendar, here’s what’s coming and when:
