Accidentally Dark-Sided Dave
One Whole News Segment This Morning Was Accidentally Dark-Sided
We are fully aware that this program is a comedy show. However, with the current state of the world, not every story that comes across our desks are positive. We go dark-sided pretty often on the show. Sometimes we are prepared for it and sometimes it’s an accident. Well today, Dave was accidentally dark-sided for almost an entire news segment!
We started our news segment with a story about a woman who was killed after a car crushed her. The accident took place in Wixom, MI. Absolutely horrible. Covered primarily because the driver was a 94-year-old woman, who was the feature of our ‘Symphony of Destruction’. They symphony ended in the most tragic way possible.
Then, a story that really led us to believe Dave was dark. A dog rescue out of the Hurricane Milton destruction was supposed to be an uplifting tale. According to reports from CBS Evening News, a man rescued a dog from the rubble of a neighbor’s home. Also, the two people living in that home died during the hurricane. So, the positive dog rescue story was immediately derailed because of the tragic loss of two human lives. Dave says a different report he was going to play didn’t mention that.
On the dark-sided tales go. A pilot who died mid-flight. A family rescued from a house fire but two of the dogs weren’t found. We can’t believe that the tragedy keeps coming. Now, in Dave’s defense, he has a lot of stories to gather. And, some of these stories are quite long. He admits that he didn’t make it to the end of the house fire story to find out about the two missing dogs.
We can usually find the funny in everything, but this news segment was full of bad news. It happens. We just play the hands we are dealt. And as Dave says, do we really want a show that’s full of ‘sunshine and rainbow’ stories? No. So, we always have to be ready for a dark-sided story to come up and put a funny spin on it!
