Porch Pirate or Pick-Pocket? Thief Steals Package Out Of Homeowner’s Hands
Is this an example of a porch pirate or a pick-pocket? Could it somehow be both? A thief stole a package right out of a homeowner’s hands!
Porch pirates have been on the rise in recent years. That’s when someone steals the package that has been left at your door by Amazon, UPS, or FedEx. They typically will steal the package before you are home and even get to it. This time around is different. The thief takes the package right from the homeowner’s hand making it more of a pick-pocket than a porch pirate. Check out the video below. What do you think?
Porch Pirate Steals Package From Homeowner’s Hands
Clearly, this thief was feeling bold. Not only did he take it right out of the homeowner’s hands, but this alleged porch pirate also stole the package right in front of what appears to be an Amazon delivery driver!
After watching the video footage below, I’m thinking that doing it in front of the delivery driver might have helped his chances of landing the package. When a driver sets it down and another person comes literally running up after the package, it’s easy to think maybe he’s with the driver. Maybe this guy knows a mistake was made? I’ll hear him out. However, by then it’s too late. He grabbed the package out of the man’s hands and just kept running.
After watching his surveillance footage, which is a good thing to have, the homeowner is under the belief that the thief knew exactly what he was doing, per 6 ABC. Inside the package were 6 iPhones for the victim and his family. Obviously, this would be very traumatic to have happen to you! Now, anytime he opens his door or gets a package he’s going to have to do some extra investigating and looking around. That could be hard to shake off!
To make things even more weird, 6 ABC reports that once the package was taken he got a call asking the iPhones to be returned in which he told the person on the phone that they were stolen and then they hung up. Could it have been the thieves? Is it all connected?
Police are now investigating. Check out the video report from 6 ABC below!
