‘Divorce Parties’ Are On The Rise After Marriages End
According to WESH, Becky Rietze recently celebrated her new beginnings with a Divorce Party in Orlando, Florida. It featured music, dancing, champagne, and a positive outlook on her future. I think that’s what’s good about Divorce Parties is they help establish optimism at a time where you might be feeling low or hopeless. It’s good to have that extra boost of confidence!
Rietze tells WESH that her life took an unexpected turn after 14 years of marriage and 2 children saying, “Cause I only knew how to be a wife, you kind of lose yourself, and then you become a wife and a mom, and so that was all I knew how to be.” She invited many people who were at her wedding to her Divorce Party it sounds like including her parents.
WESH says there’s been a 22% increase in Divorce Party invitations since 1999 and has been continuing to climb recently. They can be good for your mental health and to celebrate your independence. However, it’s good not to go overboard with the partying about your marriage ending. That might eventually come off as a bad look.
What do you think? Would you host a Divorce Party? Have you already had a Divorce Party of your own? How did you celebrate?
